South Africa president, Jacob Zuma Commend Peaceful Inauguration in Nigeria

President Jacob Zuma has hailed the peaceful change-over of power in Nigeria, as the country inaugurated its new president.

Zuma says this shows that democratic practices are taking root in Africa. He was speaking to the SABC after attending Buhari's inauguration ceremony in Nigeria.

Buhari has meanwhile vowed to defeat Boko Haram and restore trust in the country's institutions.

Delivering his inaugural address at his appointment ceremony on Friday, Buhari said Nigeria will work towards the development of the continent.

We cannot claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by the insurgents. This government will do everything it can to rescue them alive. Boko Haram is an example of small fires causing large fires.
