The ECOWAS court sitting in Abuja, has reportedly dismissed the application filed by the federal government asking that the suit filed by the Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) be quashed.

This is reported to have caused jubilation among members of IPOB and those sympathetic to his plight.Kanu’s suit seeks the court to grant him an unconditional release from detention as well as damages to the tune of $800 million.Channels Television reports that the federal government asked the court to dismiss the case because it is a subject matter before the Federal High Court and the appeal court.
The government said as a result,Kanu’s application constitutes an abuse of court process.
The presiding judge, Micah Wright-Williams, dismissed the application of the government for lacking in merit. The court said it has the jurisdiction to hear cases of infringement of human rights

Six Men Arrested Over Rape Of Orphans

Six men have been arrested for allegedly raping teenage girls from an orphanage in India’s southern state of Kerala, police officials said on Tuesday.
District police Chief Rajpal Meena said that the girls were lured into a shop near their orphanage in Wayanad district by the suspects who offered them chocolates.Image result for Police Arrest 6 Men Over Rape Of Teenage Orphans
The men were arrested on Monday following a complaint by the orphanage“There are a total of seven victims, who were sexually abused over the last two months,’’ Meena said.

Police said the girls alleged that the men filmed the rapes and used the footage to blackmail them into further sexual acts.
However, the suspects have been charged with rape as well as offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act.
Media reports said medical tests had confirmed rape.Women’s right activists expressed the shock at the “horrific” crimes and demanded the strongest possible action against the accused.

Report says sexual violence has been a focus of public attention in India since the fatal gang rape of a student on a bus in New Delhi in December 2012.
Activists say little has changed in attitudes towards sexual assault, and attacks on women continue unabated.

Trump Travel Order To Apply To Those Seeking Sew Visas

President Donald Trump's revised travel ban will temporarily halt entry to the United States for people from six Muslim-majority nations who are seeking new visas, allowing those with current visas to travel freely, according to a fact sheet obtained by The Associated Press.Pedestrians walk through a skybridge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport near the international arrivals area, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, in Seattle. Airport officials and civil rights lawyers around the country are getting ready for President Donald Trump's new travel ban, which is expected to be released as soon as Wednesday.

Trump was to sign the new executive order on Monday. The directive aims to address legal issues with the original order, which caused confusion at airports, sparked protests around the country and was ultimately blocked by the courts.

The revised order is narrower and specifies that a 90-day ban on people from Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen does not apply to those who already have valid visas. The White House also dropped Iraq from the list of targeted countries, following pressure from the Pentagon and State Department, which had urged the White House to reconsider, given Iraq's key role in fighting the Islamic State group.
The fact sheet cites negotiations that resulted in Iraq agreeing to "increase cooperation with the U.S. government on the vetting of its citizens applying for a visa to travel to the United States."

A fact sheet detailing the order was distributed to lawmakers and obtained by the AP.
Trump administration officials say that even with the changes, the goal of the new order is the same as the first: keeping would-be terrorists out of the United States while the government reviews the vetting system for refugees and visa applicants from certain parts of the world.
