Pastor Arrested For Mistakenly Bought Stolen SUV

A 32-year-old Presbyterian pastor from Umuahia, Abia State, Rev. Titus Onwuchekwa has been arrested for buying a 2005 edition of Mitsubishi Pajero for just N350,000.
Paraded alongside two notorious stolen car dealers by the police during the week,he explained that he thought God had brought a blessing his way.

Onwuchekwa was paraded with the car dealers, 32-year-old Felix Osas, who sold the vehicle and 32-year-old Ndibe Samuel.Ordinarily, a used 2005 edition of Mitsubishi Pajero is sold for between N1.4m and N1.8m but when Osas presented himself as the seller, he told Onwuchekwa that he could give up the vehicle for N500,000,Punchreports..
Onwuchekwa, who is popularly called ‘My father, my father’ in his church circles in Umuahia, said he had come to Lagos to attend a Christian programme when he sighted the 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero in Alaba area of Ojo, Lagos and he dialled the number of the seller pasted on the car.
“He gave me the price of N500,000 but I told him that I could only afford N350,000 and after we haggled a little, he agreed to sell the car. He said he would sow the car as a seed into my life for that amount provided I pray for him regularly.
“He said he needed regular prayers and I paid him N350,000 with a promise that anytime he needed prayer, he could call me and I would always pray for him.”
When asked if the cheap price of the vehicle did not raise his suspicion at all during the transaction, Onwuchekwa said he believed it was indeed a blessing that had come his way.
“I even went home to share the testimony of how I bought the vehicle,” he said.
What about the vehicle particulars and the Customs papers presented to him, Onwuchekwa said they all bore the names of Osas, which was what doused every suspicion he had.
But these are not enough to exonerate Onwuchekwa who continued to maintain his innocence.

Osas explained that few weeks after Onwuchekwa bought the Pajero, he contacted him again and asked to buy a 2001 Toyota Camry for N250,000, a vehicle which under a normal circumstance, he would have sold for at least N900,000.

This proved to be the nail on the coffin for Rev. Onwuchekwa as the police said he must have known he was buying a stolen vehicle if he did not mind coming back for a second car despite the suspicious price of the vehicles.
Osas, who runs Happy Home Motors, was all smiles as he narrated how Onwuchekwa fell victim of his criminal trade.
“I don’t think he actually knew that he was buying a stolen vehicle. If he did not come back for more, the police would not have arrested him along with us. I don’t steal these vehicles myself.
“In fact, I don’t knew where they came from. I got them from one of my friends, who told me to re-register them in my name. When I asked him where he got them, he confided in me that they were stolen.
“I bought the Pajero I sold to the Pastor for N300,000. I have only bought two vehicles from him before. I also bought the Camry from my friend for N300,000. It is the same one the pastor wanted to buy for N250,000.”
Osas said he had been selling vehicles for seven years after he realised that his initial business as a mechanic was not yielding profit as he wanted.
The young man did not show any remorse as he explained that it was the business he had been using to feed his family.
“I learnt car sales from my uncle and decided to establish a business of my own seven years ago. I actually did not set out to start selling stolen vehicles. It just happened that the prices were too cheap for me to avoid it.”
Samuel on the other hand, said he was not a stolen car dealer. He explained that he simply bought a vehicle from his in-law, which turned out to be a stolen vehicle.
“He told me that the 2001 model was fairly used and I bought it for N700,000. All the documents bear his name, so I did not suspect it might have been stolen. I am just a medicine store owner, not a criminal,” he said.

What Chris Pratt Wrote On Instagram At 3AM After Being Up For Nearly 80 Hours

Actor Chris Pratt posted an early morning photo on Instagram of his drive to Atlanta with an inspiring message that everyone should take a minute to read...

chris pratt instagram motivation

"It's 3:20am. I got picked up for work at 6:45am yesterday. I'm not good with math, especially after being up for approximately 61 hours but I think I've been up for over 77 hours. I did a table read for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 this morning and then shot all day on Passengers and just now wrapped some 144 hours later. Weirdly both films, which I'll be shooting back to back, are being shot in Atlanta at Pinewood studios. We have the best crew. Total rock stars busting their asses. And the stuff we're shooting. My God. I can't wait for you to see it. I go back in in about 8 hours to do more. I am doing what I love. It doesn't feel like work. Even though it is. I'm having fun. I'm overcome with joy and gratitude. I felt like posting this to say to anyone out there chasing your dream... Fifteen years ago I felt the same passion I feel today, but I had very little opportunity. I had to hustle hard and go hungry. I had to eat sardines and figure out how to get gas money. And I never had a plan B. I never stopped believing. Ever. Don't give up. Apply constant pressure for as long as it takes. It will break before you do. Go get it."

Court Denies IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Bail

A Federal High Court in Abuja has denied the bail application of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and director of Biafran Radio, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is standing trial for treasonable offences filed against him by the Federal government.

Justice John Tsoho in his ruling today said Kanu should be remanded in prison until his trial, because he was a threat to national security and since he has dual citizenship, could jump bail.

I took a picture of this guy while walking to pick a taxi, thank God my phone was handy. I was fascinated when I saw him. Its amazing how some people have refused to be limited even by nature. Yes, he is crippled but his mind is not.

He is a cobbler, his kind are allover the streets of Nigeria begging. This guy has refused to be limited by his condition,

He's got no legs but at least he has functional hands to amend your shoes.

I Was Tortured and Abused by Buhari's DSS - Nnamdi Kanu Writes Open Letter to EU

In an open letter to European Parliament, embattled Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu asks the global community for fair assessment of President Buhari-led federal government and justice in his case.Embattle director of the Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who was arrested in October 2015 by Department of State Security in Lagos, has written an open letter to European Parliament (EU), asking the global community for fair assessment of President Buhari and justice in his case.

Below is the open letter in full:

I am that Biafran locked up in DSS custody for 98 days without trial

Firstly, I wish to thank this honorable parliament, representatives of member nations and all her leaders. On the defense of rule of law and human right this parliament thrived. The making of a better world where mankind shall be free, easy life and prosperous world had been the banner of this parliament and never shall diplomacy or any form of tie cause a deviation or severe the cause of this great parliament.

I am a Biafran, I am that Biafran locked up in Buhari’s DSS dungeon for 98 days without trial, given inhuman treatments, tortured and abused. I am that Biafran competent courts of jurisdiction freed but Buhari by his powers held me illegally. I am that Biafran that left his wife suffers the pains of child birth alone. I am that Biafran his newly delivered wife is still having emotional trauma and mental torture of losing her husband to time or death.

I am that Biafran that never killed a man or man killed for me

I am that Biafran this parliament gave right to agitate for freedom, UN charter told to demand for freedom, Nigerian constitution also told to agitate for Biafra, when I did what the law said I should do, I was thrown into the prison without asking me what I want or how my want can be addressed. I am that Biafran that never killed a man or man killed for me, that Biafran that only stood a radio station as a weapon to fight for freedom, that Biafran that cherished freedom of speech, that Biafran that is persecuted because of truth. I am Nnamdi Kanu that Biafran Nigerian government under Buhari unlawfully oppressed.

I am that Biafran his 7 years old child was shot to death in Aba, that Biafran his brothers and sisters were massacred in Onitsha. I am that Biafran his people were again massacred in Aba, that Biafran his people are being kidnapped, extra-judiciary killed and illegally imprisoned by Buhari. I am that Biafran who Buhari illegally ordered soldiers of Gowon to invade my land and slaughter my children, sisters, brothers, fathers and mothers in their millions in 1967. I am that Biafran his people are being marginalized, subjugated and enslaved just because they fought a war and lost, instead of healing and forgiving us, they chose to keep punishing us.

Biafrans are losing their lives for lawfully asking a legal course

Before Buhari addresses this honorable parliament, let him be assessed and subjected to scrutiny, that he may not infect this honorable parliament with dishonor, lawlessness and primitive tendencies. Under his words, over 1000 innocent men and women lost their lives because of his political ambition in 2011 and today more Biafrans are losing their lives for lawfully asking a legal course.

This parliament having warned of human right abuses by Nigeria, Buhari has gone on without discretion in handling of call for Biafran independence which fully contradicts the ethics of this honorable parliament, hence I call for a discrete advise or compel him to respect human life and do the needful- referendum for Biafra and release his prisoner of conscience or a political prison without odds or record of unlawful act.

We are Biafrans condemned by Nigerian government

The treatment of Kanu represents how Biafrans are treated in Nigeria, we are Biafrans, condemned by Nigerian government and deprived of right to live, speech, belong, freedom and thrive. Even-though our land feed the country, our land is marginalized as diseases, contaminated land, bad roads, lack of infrastructure and social amenities bedevil us as virtually removed from federation. This federal absence left our land in decay that we today seek freedom to have a nation to call a home and enjoy human right which gives meaning to life.

Thanks,
Yours faithfully,
Nnamdi Kanu (in Ifeanyi Chijioke of Family Writers).

According to reports, the monarch was said to be in possession of 1.5kg of marijuana (India hemp) when he was arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on January 20, this year.

Too Bad! Man Kills His 2 Month Old Son Because He Wouldn’t Stop Crying

31-year-old Danielle Whyte had given birth to her baby boy just seven weeks before he was allegedly murdered at the hands of the most unsuspecting suspect - his own father. 51-year-old Jose Feliciano was allegedly jealous of baby Mason for commanding the attention of Whyte. On Dec. 10, police say Feliciano grew angry after hearing Mason crying and yelled at him in his room to stop crying but the infant kept crying, shortly after, Whtye heard ‘several loud bangs.’ Prosecutors now say the baby suffered ‘blunt force trauma.’ While Whyte explains she tried to revive her son once she realized what happened, it was too late. She says Feliciano allegedly threatened to kill her if she called police, so she decided not to.

Officials didn’t know about Mason’s tragic death until week later when Whyte attempted to harm herself and was sent to a New York hospital. It was in the psychiatric ward where she confessed that Feliciano had taken the life of her baby boy and the location of where his body was buried. Police eventually found little Mason under a pile of dirt with a rose on top. Now, even though she might not have physically killed her son, she’s charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide charges, according to New York Daily News. She plead not guilty. Officials say Whyte knew what she was doing when she left Mason in the ‘danger’ of her boyfriend’s care and did nothing to help him survive.

A CCTV showed him walking out of their apartment with a gym bag the night baby Mason was killed. Apparently, the infant was in that bag, he buried him in the same bag and acted like nothing happened.

Feliciano pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges but faces a life sentence if convicted.

Eritrean Government Says Men Must Marry Two Wives Or Face Jail Term

In Eritrea, the Grand Mufti, the highest religious authority in the country, declared that every man must marry two women or face a jail sentence. The declaration was leaked last Thursday on several social media platforms. The Eritrean government will compensate Eritrean men for the marriage ceremonies and houses.
db54bef58b8fd9c5fb07e58c7c6b1dc3
The declaration is motivated in part by the shortage of men which is a byproduct of the Eritrean-Ethiopian War which took placed from 1998-2000. The war left 150,000 Eritrean soldiers dead out of a population of only 4 million.
The statement referenced harsh punishments for refusal of the new decree.
“First that every man shall marry at least two women and the man who refuses to do so shall be subjected to life imprisonment with hard labour.
“The woman who tries to prevent her husband from marrying another wife shall be punished with life imprisonment,” the statement read in part.

We Don’t Recognise Biafran Passport – US, UK

The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor, had said two weeks ago that the passport was valid worldwide, adding that the travel document costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000
He had said, “I assure you that the Biafran passport is valid. Except Nigeria, other countries of the world accept Biafran passport and allow our citizens to travel with it. In Europe, North and South America, Biafran passport is accepted. Nigeria is the only country that seizes Biafran passport. Go to neighbouring Ghana here, they will stamp the passport for you. Don’t be confused by the propaganda of the Nigerian government that there is nothing like Biafra passport.

Biafra passport

“MASSOB appeals to Biafran citizens to procure their passport and use it to travel. If you doubt me, get a Nigerian passport while I have my Biafran passport; when we get to Europe, you will see who they will welcome than the other. Many people with the Nigerian passport have been repatriated, but have you heard of anybody with Biafran passport receiving such ill-treatment?”
However, our correspondent sent an email to the American consulate in Lagos to inquire from the US regarding the claim of MASSOB.
In his response, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the consulate, Frank Sellin, said, “The United States does not consider passports purporting to be from a Biafra entity to be a valid legal document for purposes of visa issuance.”
A similar response from the British Government was sent to The PUNCH via email. The UK recalled that it did not support the disintegration of Nigeria during the 1967 Biafran War and had not changed its stance 49 years after.
A statement by the Press and Public Affairs Officer, British High Commission, Abuja, Mr. Joe Abuku, read in part, “The answer is unequivocally ‘no’. The UK does not recognise the so-called Biafran passport
“The position of the UK Government during the Biafran War is a matter of historical record. The UK Government’s position, which reflected the Charter of the Organisation of African Unity, was to recognise the borders laid down at independence.
“The Biafran War caused great suffering and the UK supported the reconciliation work that followed the conflict. The UK supports the territorial integrity of Nigeria and the Nigerian Government’s commitment to work for a secure and prosperous Nigeria for all Nigerians.”

Court Adjourns Synagogue Criminal Trial Till Jan. 27

A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Tuesday adjourned further proceedings in the charges filed against the Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church of All Nations and four other till January 27, 2016.
The adjournment followed applications by the 4th and 5th defendants in the case challenging the competence of the manner in which the charge was served on them.
The trial judge, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo, had on December 11, 2015 granted an application by the prosecution to serve the 4th and 5th defendants through substituted means. The judge ordered that the court papers should be pasted on the front doors of the 4th and 5th defendants’ residential addresses in the Alagbado and Ikeja areas of Lagos respectively. He ordered the prosecution to file photographic evidence featuring the sheriff pasting the court papers. When the matter was called in court on Tuesday, the prosecution team, led by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Idowu Alakija, informed the court that the order of the court had been complied with and the 4th and 5th defendants had been served. But counsel for the 4th and 5th defendants, Chief E.L. Akpofure (SAN), contended that the service was only effected on Monday, despite that the order was made on December.Besides, Akpofure argued that the manner in which the prosecution obtained the order for substituted service was unknown to law.
“The application they brought was an ex parte; we had no voice. What they have done, does the rule provide for it? If they went to pray for something that is not known to law and they went out to carry out the action, My Lord, we say it is a nullity,” Akpofure argued. On her own part, counsel for the 2nd and 3rd defendants, Mrs. Titi Akinlawon, said she aligned herself with Akpofure’s argument that her clients were only served on Monday. But Alakija said, “The matter was adjourned till today (Tuesday) to report that we have served the defendants, take the application and possibly arraign the defendants.”The judge, however, noted that though Akpofure’s applications were not yet ripe for hearing, they needed to be cleared first before any other thi Ikotun area of Lagos.
Charged alongside the Registered Trustees of SCOAN are Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company; Jandy Trust Limited; and Engineers Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun, who built the collapsed building.A Lagos State Coroner Court, presided over by Mr. Oyetade Komolafe, had on July 8, 2015 indicted the church of building without approval, adding that the engineers were liable to prosecution for criminal negligence on the grounds that structural defect was responsible for the collapse of the ill-fated SCOAN building. In the charge before the court, the Registered Trustees of SCOAN were accused of building without approval, while the engineers and the two companies were charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Looters Should HaveTheir Hands Amputated And Hung To Death —House of Reps Member

A member of the House of Representatives, Umar Yakubu Barde has advocated for the amputation of hands of those found guilty of stealing from the Nation's treasury. Speaking in an interactive session with the some journalist in Kaduna state yesterday January 18th, Barde who is a PDP member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, said those who stole in millions of Naira should have their hands amputated, while those who looted in billions of Naira should be hanged to death.

He called for special court rather than the conventional courts, saying that looters usually use such courts to delay justice.

“I am a believer of the fact that, people should be punished for whatever offence they commit. And I am also of the belief that punishment should also be segregated according to the offence. At least, your punishment should be commensurate with what you have done. For me, if you ask me, if someone steals from N1million to N100 million, they should cut his hand. Yes, there is nothing wrong with that, so that when we see him, we will know yes, he stole. And those that steal from billions upward should be hanged and their property confiscated. You can imagine this issue of arms deal. If you knew this money was meant for the procurement of arms, weapons, my brothers and sisters here, if you have a brother in the Army, he is sent to the warfront and because his weapons are archaic, he is killed. Do you now want to have sympathy for someone who knows that the money was meant for arms and he pocketed it? It is so painful, we have lost loved ones. If I am a judge and such a person is brought before me, I will confiscate his property and make sure he is killed also. Because he is guilty of the blood of the people killed in the warfront. We are living in a very funny country where people steal N1, 000 and they are put in jail for years. And where some people will steal billions and use that same billion to escape justice. That is not good enough. For me personally, let me let the cat out of the bag, some members of the National Assembly and I are of the believe that, we should have special courts for corruption cases. Because, if you look at the quantum of corruption in the country today, we are just talking about Dasuki Gate and look at the quantum of money and the number of people that are involved. You have not gone to the ministries yet. You have not even gone to the states and it is only ICPC and EFCC that are to do all these jobs. If we are fair to ourselves, the work is overwhelming. And you know, people will want to use the legal system to delay justice, and that is what is happening today. So, why don’t we have dedicated courts to handle all these corruption cases, so that justice could be dispensed quickly? I am aware of former governors who have cases with EFCC and they have not gone to court for the past eight years. So, this does not encourage the young people. It rather encourages them to steal, because if you can delay justice for 10 years, it means that is a good one. So, I think we need to put our heads together because corruption like hunger, does not know party, it does not know tribe or religion. We must as Nigerians take a very bold stand” he said.
