Selena Gomez is the first celebrity to reach 100 million followers on Instagram, and she hasn’t even posted anything on her account since August.
The 23-year-old actress and singer, who is currently taking a break from social media and public life because of lupus side effects, which include anxiety and depression, ranked as the most followed person on Instagram in July with 89.2 million fans. Woman Who Married Her Son Arrested For Also Marrying Daughter

A woman and her daughter are facing incest charges after authorities learned the pair were legally married in Oklahoma this year, and that the mother had married her son a few years earlier. The motivation behind the March marriage was unclear Wednesday, when 43-year-old Patricia Ann Spann and her daughter, 25-year-old Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, made initial appearances in Stephens County district court. Under Oklahoma law, marrying a close relative is considered incest whether or not a sexual relationship exists.

Neither woman had an attorney listed in court documents. No publicly listed phone number could be found for their home in Duncan, about 80 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.
According to a police affidavit, officers learned about the marriage late last month amid a child welfare investigation. Patricia Spann told a state child services investigator she’d lost custody of three children, who were adopted by their paternal grandmother, but reunited with her daughter two years ago. She said she thought a marriage was OK because her name wasn’t on her daughter’s birth certificate, the affidavit states.Photo credit: Facebook
Detectives later learned she married her son in 2008. He filed for an annulment 15 months later citing “incest,” stating he was married to his birth mother, according to the affidavit.
Police didn’t return a message seeking investigation details following the women’s court appearance. Both women were being held on $10,000 bonds.Photo credit: Facebook

Tears As MMM Crashes in Zimbabwe, Millions Lose Money

Lots of Zimbabweans are in a financial trauma as you read this, all thanks to the popular Ponzi scheme called MMM. Thousands of people living in Zimbabwe, among them civil servants, vendors and more, were said to have lost thousands of dollars to fraudulent online pyramid scheme MMM Global Zimbabwe after the system collapsed recently. The social financial network, which relied on an accelerating number of new members to pay off the old, abruptly terminated its services without any prior notice last week leaving participants stranded.Image for the news result

Iharare.co reports that these Zimbabweans joined the online investment scheme with the sole aim of “getting rich quickly”. It was said that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe warned its people about the system, saying the scheme was fraudulent. The scheme prides itself as a mutual aid fund under which recruited members contribute money to assist others and are promised investment returns of 30 percent per month. Some of the people left counting their losses told The Herald that they received emails that the scheme had been suspended until September 15.

One of the participants, Mr Tinashe Muza of Harare said: “All along things were moving in the right direction and we now have nowhere to claim our investments. When we started putting our funds in the scheme one could get assistance within seven days but things later changed to 14 days and when we were shut out the waiting period was 21 days. What it simply means is that the number of people in need of help has outnumbered the number of people joining. Right now we have nowhere to get our money which we invested.”
MMM stands for Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox and takes its name from its founder, Sergei Panteleevich Mavrodi of Russia. He founded MMM in 1989 and the scheme was declared bankrupt three years later leading to the disappearance of Mavrodi until his arrest in 2003. While some people who were skeptical about the scheme started with small amounts, it is believed some poured in thousands of dollars anticipating higher returns. The RBZ said the schemes were fraudulent as existing investors were ‘paid money not from genuine market investment of their funds, but from contributions made by new investors, until a point when the scheme can no longer attract new investors.” Share on Facebook Share on Twitter
Currently, the scheme is in Nigeria and it is called MMM – Federal Republic of Nigeria. Lots of Nigerians are on the scheme and the scheme actually works (just like how it was working well at first in Zimbabwe). MMM Nigeria, is a Ponzi scheme that originated in Russia that has now set up in Nigeria. Wikipedia says the company was involved in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in the 1990s. It was estimated that thousands of people lost up to $10 billion dollars. Well, a lot of people think the scheme is legit and not a scam but the history of the company says the opposite. Only time will tell.

17 killed As Boko Haram Terrorists Attack Troops in Borno

Nigerian troops and the Boko Haram sect have suffered losses in a recent attack by the sect that has torn Nigeria apart in the past 7 years with immense damages.
Despite the heavy pounding of the sect through land and aerial attacks, the dangerous militia has continued to inflict pains on the Nigerian populace through petty but lethal attacks including another recent incident.
The Army on Thursday said it killed fifteen insurgents and lost two soldiers in a fierce battle between its troops and Boko Haram terrorists in Abadam village, Borno, according to the Vanguard.

In a statement issued by Col. Sani Usman, acting Director Army Public Relations in Abuja, the army, however said it lost two soldiers during the fight.

Usman said the terrorists launched attacked on troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and Multinational Task Force at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, which lasted for two hours.

He said while many of the insurgents escaped with gunshot wound, four soldiers also sustained injuries.

“The bodies of our late colleagues and the wounded have since been evacuated.

“The troops have continued mop up and clearance operations of the remnants of the terrorists.

“They have also intensified vigilance and high level of alertness,” he said.

Usman said items recovered from the terrorists include a gun truck, one 60mm Mortar tube, seven 60mm mortar bomb, a General Purpose Machine (GPMG), three damaged AK 47 Rifle and four bandoliers of anti-aircraft rounds of ammunition.

President Buhari Invites UN To Negotiate Release Of Chibok Girls With Boko Haram

President Muhammadu Buhari has informed the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, that Nigeria would welcome negotiators from the UN in talks that could lead to an exchange of Boko Haram fighters in government custody for the release of the abducted Chibok girls.

According to a statement by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, President Buhari was speaking during a bilateral meeting with Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York.  The Nigerian President admitted that the Federal Government is willing to bend over backwards to get the Chibok girls freed from Boko Haram captivity.
"The challenge is in getting credible and bona fide leadership of Boko Haram to discuss with. The split in the insurgent group is not helping matters. The government had reached out, ready to negotiate, but it became difficult to identify credible leaders. We will welcome intermediaries such as UN outfits, to step in,” said President Buhari.
The President maintained that the teachings of Boko Haram are at variance with Islam
"The fact that they kill men, women, children, and other people wantonly, and shout Allahu Akbar (God is great) shows that they do not know that Allah at all. If they did, they would not shed innocent blood," President Buhari said.
He thanked Ban Ki-moon for the moral and material support given to Nigeria, which has enabled the country to surmount many of the challenges facing her.

The UN Secretary-General responded by congratulating President Buhari on the anti-corruption war, saying: “You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your persona has given your country a positive image.”

He also disclosed that the UN recognises the achievements of the Buhari administration against Boko Haram, urging that human rights be always upheld, to prevent a repeat of what is being witnessed in Syria.

Ban Ki-moon also thanked President Buhari for showing commitment to issues on climate change, adding that the government should "own the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," for the good of its citizens.

40% of Today’s Organizations Will No Longer Exist in 10 years – Cisco

The internet is a wonderful thing for some and a torment for others. It offers small organizations the opportunity to engage the world, while at the same time removing some of the advantages big business has lauded over entrepreneurs for years. Speaking at the Nordic Digital Business Summit in Helsinki, Finland’s Minister for Economic Affairs Olli Rehn described the internet as “truly democratic” and a saviour for innovators.
But all this new opportunity comes at a great price. Cisco’s Director of Internet of Everything & City Digitization Bas Boorsma (pictured below) highlighted to the audience at the same conference that “Digital Darwinism is very unkind to those who wait” and the concept of ‘Too big to fail’ which plagued the world throughout the noughties is a thing of the past.

“No-one is too big to fail in the digital age,” said Boorsma. “The main problem is that many people think in a linear manner, but this is not what the internet is. We are preparing for yesterday’s tomorrow.”
Expanding on that somewhat cryptic opening Boorsma made a contentious claim that 40% of today’s businesses will no-longer exist in 10 years. Whether this is due to consolidation, rebranding or bankruptcy was not made clear, but natural selection looks set to go into overdrive.
The main challenge is not the acceptance of change, but the speed. Although many of the more traditional organizations were slow to transform their business models to the digital ecosystem, it is now top of the agenda. But the issue here is of speed and mindset.

To innovate a change in mentality is needed and the fail-fast business model is another buzzword which has crept in, though here there seems to be sense to the buzz. Big business does not allow creatives the opportunity to fail, because failing is not acceptable. For the internet businesses which has taken the world by storm (Facebook, Twitter, AirBnB, Uber etc.) failing is a way of life, and encouraged if there is a lesson to be learnt.
“Only 30% of digitization efforts are successful,” Boorsma said. “People need to think non-linear, as this is the nature of the internet.”
The development of the internet was not linear. There have been random explosions of development heading off in different directions, and then once again converging. The speed of change in increasing, and the future is becoming more difficult to predict. According to Boorsma, this is the essence of disruptive models and the cause of heartache for the more traditional organizations of the world.“One thing which the new internet companies have in common is they do not continue to operate in their traditional industries,” Boorsma said. “They experiment and expand. If I was a bank, I wouldn’t be worried about my competitors on the other side of the high street; I’d be worried about Facebook and Google.”
Whether an organization ends up in the 40% which could potentially be wiped from the earth in 10 years almost entirely depends on how it embraces change. For Boorsma, this needs to be done quickly and then quicker once again, or face the consequences. As Hemingway wrote: “How did you go bankrupt? Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
If an organization is happy with its digitization strategy, it probably needs to have a rethink and up the pace once again. In an internet age, dominated by non-linear and often explosive development, fast is never fast enough.
