Stop Washing Your Jeans- LEVIS CEO

If you feel the need to throw your jeans into the washing machine after every wear, you may be doing it all wrong.
According to the man behind the jeans Americans have been wearing for the past 141 years - Levi's 501s - you do not need to wash your jeans as often as you think you do, if ever.
"These jeans are maybe a year old and these have yet to see a washing machine," the CEO of Levi Strauss & Co., Chip Bergh, said Tuesday, referring to the jeans he was wearing during an interview at Fortune magazine's Brainstorm Green conference in California.
"I know that sounds totally disgusting," Bergh said. "I know it does."
Despite the potential "ick" factor, Bergh went on to explain that keeping your jeans out of the laundry will help keep their shape and color.
"If you talk to real denim aficionados, they tell you don't wash your blue jeans," Bergh said.
Bergh is not the only member of the fashion industry to espouse a no-wash jeans policy.
Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger once told celebrity website TMZ.com that he also keeps his Levi's out of the washing machine.
"I never wash my Levi's," Hilfiger told TMZ cameras last October.
So how do you keep your jeans fresh without the help of laundry detergent? Experts recommend eliminating odor by spritzing jeans with white vinegar or vodka and hanging them out to air dry.

Another option is to freeze your jeans once per month to kill off the smell caused by bacteria. The freezing option entails turning your jeans inside out and then freezing them either overnight or for two days at a time.
While fashion honchos like Hilfiger and Bergh are okay with keeping their jeans out of the washing machine, others took to social media to say they will stick with having clean jeans, no matter the consequences.

3 Simple Reasons You Should Stop Eating French Fries

10386040_mFrench fries have got a bad reputation and for good reason. French fries are not exactly the most healthy food and you all know that eating too much of anything is not a good thing. Read more here about why you and your family especially your kids should not eat french fries. Check on for the hard truth.
French fries contain bad fats
Frying up your food is sure tasty, but bad fat or saturated fat is what turns a potato into a time bomb for cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Not all fats are bad and more people are learning that fats come in the categories of the bad fats and good ones. While good fats such as vegetable oils including olive oil and sunflower are actually having some protective effects on your health, the bad fats or saturated fats are directly linked to the clogging of your arteries, it is the bad fats that cause far greater damage. Damage done by saturated fat is found in margarines, vegetable shortening and everything that is partially hydrogenated. Bad fats have been shown to raise levels of bad cholesterol or low density lipoprotein. Saturated fats also stay in your body longer and raise circulating blood triglycerides that lower the good cholesterol or high density lipoprotein. When you consume these bad fats they make the platelets in your blood streams. These sticky little platelets then form clots that connect to the walls of arteries which supply vital areas of your body with oxygen and nutrition. These little clots create a wall of plaque which will eventually lead to heart attack or a stroke.

French fries are made of the worst carbohydrates
No potato in its natural state is bad for you, but rather you make it bad because of how you eat it or when you decide to have it. Potatoes are starch and they are made up of simple carbohydrates. Most conventional French fries are prepared with white potatoes and white potatoes have been proven to more easily convert in the body to sugar. When your body takes in these quickly absorbing carbohydrates you are forced to use them as energy right away or store them in fat. Unless you are headed to the gym after you eat or consume them after exercise, you are more likely to gain weight from these kinds of potatoes. When you continually eat quickly absorbing carbohydrates, the high conversion of sugar causes an increase of insulin production. When you continually spike your insulin, you develop a resistance to insulin that has been linked to a higher risk of heart disease and diabetes. Sadly, your kids are not an exception to the process. Some will say that children need lots of carbohydrates and many nutritional experts push whole grains, but the reality is that healthy grains are becoming more and more difficult to find. In theory, raising the whole grains in your children’s diets is a smart suggestion. Whole grains are more difficult to convert to energy, producing a steadier and slower supply of carbohydrates for the body. Choosing the right grains is important and many companies have found ways of turning a good thing into something more profitable. Huge profits are made on things that are tastier and have long shelf life.

French fries contain trans fats
Frying up your food is very tasty. But do not forget trans fatty acids are what turns a potato into a ticking time bomb for heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Damaged fats act as carcinogens in your body. French fries have high levels of acrylamide, claimed to be a possible cancer causing substance. While there are not yet any conclusive results in children that show a link has been established to consuming French fries and cancer, it has been suggested that cancer in children is on the rise in ages 3-5 years old. It makes sense to keep the French fries out of the hands of your children until more is known.

Baby born with extra head attached to the stomach in India hospital

A baby was born in India with a head attached to her stomach. Doctors will attempt surgery to remove the extra head. Tanzeel Ur Rehman/Cover Asia Press A baby was born in India with a head attached to her stomach. Doctors will attempt surgery to remove the extra head.
A baby has been born to a woman in India with a head attached to the stomach.
Amlekha Bairva, 22, gave birth to the parasitic twins last month in a tiny government-run hospital in their village but soon rushed to JK Lone Hospital, in Jaipur, in the northern state of Rajasthan, for further tests.
The baby girl, yet to be named, was born naturally and weighed four pounds and eight ounces, but the head of her twin is clearly formed and attached by the neck to the baby's stomach.
The baby is now under medical observation in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital and doctors are hoping to attempt surgery to detach the extra head as soon as her condition is stable.

Dr Chetan Sharma, Pediatric surgeon, at JK Lone Hospital, who will perform the surgery, is hopeful that an operation would be successful.
"This is a case of Hetropagus twinning or commonly known as Parasitic twinning. In such cases surgery is successful," he said.
"She's a healthy child with a normal heartbeat. She doesn't have any other internal or external complexities and that increases her chances of survival. We are confident that the surgery would be successful and the girl will lead a normal life with no future complexities in the future."
Amlekha and her husband Ramji Lal Bairva 29, who also have a 5-year-old son, were too poor to have an ultrasound during the pregnancy so the complications went unnoticed.
Ramji Lal, who is a daily laborer, said he was shocked to see his daughter.
"I didn't take my wife to the doctor during her pregnancy as I did not have money for any treatment," he said. "Also my first child was born normal so I never thought there could be any complications with my second child. When I saw my daughter, I could not believe my eyes, I couldn't pick her up."
'She's a healthy child with a normal heartbeat,' the baby's surgeon said.

Alcohol kills one person every 10 seconds worldwide: WHO

Geneva (AFP) - Alcohol kills 3.3 million people worldwide each year, more than AIDS, tuberculosis and violence combined, the World Health Organization said Monday, warning that booze consumption was on the rise.
Including drunk driving, alcohol-induced violence and abuse, and a multitude of diseases and disorders, alcohol causes one in 20 deaths globally every year, the UN health agency said.
"This actually translates into one death every 10 seconds," Shekhar Saxena, who heads the WHO's Mental Health and Substance Abuse department, told reporters in Geneva.
Alcohol caused some 3.3 million deaths in 2012, WHO said, equivalent to 5.9 percent of global deaths (7.6 percent for men and 4.0 percent for women).
In comparison, HIV/AIDS is responsible for 2.8 percent, tuberculosis causes 1.7 percent of deaths and violence is responsible for just 0.9 percent, the study showed.
More people in countries where alcohol consumption has traditionally been low, like China and India, are also increasingly taking up the habit as their wealth increases, it said.
"More needs to be done to protect populations from the negative health consequences of alcohol consumption," Oleg Chestnov of the WHO's Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health unit said in a statement launching a massive report on global alcohol consumption and its impact on public health.
Drinking is linked to more than 200 health conditions, including liver cirrhosis and some cancers. Alcohol abuse also makes people more susceptible to infectious diseases like tuberculosis, HIV and pneumonia, the report found.
Most deaths attributed to alcohol, around a third, are caused by associated cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
Alcohol-related accidents, such as car crashes, were the second-highest killer, accounting for around 17.1 percent of all alcohol-related deaths.

- China, India drinking more -

Binge drinking is especially damaging to health, the WHO pointed out, estimating that 16 percent of the world's drinkers abuse alcohol to excess.
While people in the world's wealthiest nations, in Europe and the Americas especially, are boozier than people in poorer countries, rising wealth in emerging economies is also driving up alcohol consumption.
Drinking in populous China and India is rising particularly fast as people earn more money, the WHO said, warning that the average annual intake in China was likely to swell by 1.5 litres of pure alcohol by 2025.
Still, Eastern Europe and Russia are home to the world's biggest drinkers.
Russian men who drink consumed an average of 32 litres of pure alcohol a year, according to 2010 statistics, followed by other Western countries including Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia and South Africa.
On average, every person above the age of 15 worldwide drinks 6.2 litres of pure alcohol in a year, according to the report.
Counting only those who drink though, that rises to 17 litres of pure alcohol each year.
But far from everyone indulges. Nearly half of all adults worldwide have never touched alcohol, and nearly 62 percent say they have not touched a drink in the past year, the report showed.
Abstinence especially among women, is most common in low-income countries, while religious belief and social norms mean many Muslim countries are virtually alcohol free.

Abducted Chibok girls seen in Central Africa

school girls

There are strong indications that the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, may have moved some of the over 200 schoolgirls it abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State out of West Africa.
There were reports on Friday that some of the abducted schoolgirls were seen in Birao, Central African Republic with armed men.  Birao is a small town in the north of the CAR.
The Islamic sect had abducted pupils of the school on April 14 and taken them into the forests along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
Over 50 of the pupils escaped while being moved out of the school.
An online report by a French news medium, Jeune Afrique, on Friday, said villagers saw about 50 young women led by armed men in the North Central African Republic last week.
The report was translated into English by one of our correspondents.
The report says, “The Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram have passed through the northern CAR, escorted by armed men. Based on several testimonies of inhabitants, the women arrived Wednesday, April 30 aboard trucks.
“They were guarded by heavily armed men, who spoke English, and also members of the former (CAR) rebel Seleka.”
Seleka is an alliance of Islamic rebel militia factions that overthrew the Central African Republic government early last year and installed their leader as president. The group which has reportedly carried out several executions, rape and looting split last year with Christian and Muslim factions terrorising the CAR, forcing France to send more troops to the region.
The French newspaper added that natives of Birao were afraid to approach the kidnapped girls.
“According to our source, the convoy of two trucks and a pickup was previously seen at Tiroungoulou (about 170 kilometres southwest of Birao) and perhaps Chad.
“Upon arrival, some were frightened, cried and were violently rebuked in English. The girls and their guardians were then housed for several days in a house.
“The group reportedly left the scene on the night of Sunday to Monday, May 4 to 5, without a trace,” the report said.
Barely 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan said no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction of the pupils, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, claimed responsibility for the abduction.
Shekau, while claiming responsibility for the seizure of the girls in a video, threatened to sell  the abducted girls. “I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” he said.
Earlier, there were reports that the girls were taken to neighbouring Cameroon and Chad.
The Cameroonian government however faulted reports that some of the teenagers had been married off in the country.
Cameroon’s Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakari, was quoted as saying he was shocked by accusations that Cameroon was not collaborating with Nigeria to free the girls from their captors.
“We insist that allegations from Nigeria that a part of the 200 young female students recently kidnapped in the North-East of Nigeria would have been transferred to Cameroon to be forced into marriage to members of the Boko Haram sect are fully unfounded.
“Cameroon will never ever serve as a support base for destabilisation activities towards other countries,” he was quoted as saying.
The Unites States, Britain, France and China have, however, expressed their readiness to assist Nigeria in rescuing the girls. The US and British military personnel and hardware arrived in the country between Thursday and Friday.
One of our correspondents in Abuja also gathered that the Federal Government would engage Israel in the search for the abducted girls.
SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the Federal Government and Israeli authorities had held a series of meetings since the girls were abducted on April 14.
A security source said on Friday that the collaborative efforts between Israel and Nigeria on the issue of terrorism and insurgency had been ongoing for some time.
The source who pleaded anonymity said, “The issue of collaboration with Israeli and other countries did not start now, a lot of meetings have been held on insurgency.”
When contacted on Friday, the Press Officer of the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Tony Obiechina, said the embassy had closed for the day and could not respond to the issue.
He said, “We have closed. I will have to meet with the ambassador on Monday to see if there is any information on your request.”

"NO GIRLS ARE MISSING"- SAYS ASARI DOKUBO.

U.S. To Send Team To Nigeria In Response To Girls' Kidnapping

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama said Tuesday that the U.S. will do everything it can to help Nigeria find nearly 300 teenage girls missing since they were kidnapped from school three weeks ago by an Islamist extremist group that has threatened to sell them.
Obama said the immediate priority is finding the girls, but that the Boko Haram group must also be dealt with.
"In the short term our goal is obviously is to help the international community, and the Nigerian government, as a team to do everything we can to recover these young ladies," Obama said in an interview with NBC's "Today," in some of his first public comments on what he said was a "terrible situation" in the West African nation.
"But we're also going to have to deal with the broader problem of organizations like this that ... can cause such havoc in people's day-to-day lives," Obama said of Boko Haram.
The brazen April 15 abduction has sparked international outrage and mounting demands, including by some in Washington, for Nigeria to spare no effort to find and free the girls before they can be sold into slavery or otherwise harmed.
Nigeria's police have said more than 300 girls were abducted from their secondary school in the country's remote northeast. Of that number, 276 remain in captivity and 53 managed to escape.
Obama said he was glad the Nigerian government was accepting help from U.S. military and law enforcement advisers.

Detained US citizen turns out to be an FBI agent

Pakistani and US officials said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, who was caught yesterday carrying bullets and a knife by security officials at the Jinnah International Airport, is being held under anti-terrorism charges in Pakistan, according to a Washington Post report.
The suspect was produced in a local court on Tuesday on the charges involving violation of local anti-terrorism laws that proscribed carrying arms and ammunition on a plane.
The judge in his ruling of the case said that the suspect should remain in custody of security officials until Saturday so the issue could be further probed.
The US officials confirmed that the agent was temporarily in Pakistan to help the government investigate corruption.
The officials requested withholding of the agent’s name, as according to them the issue was sensitive in nature.
It was also contended by the US officials that the agent had forgotten a loaded gun magazine in his luggage and wasn't ‘armed’.
Spokeswoman for the US Embassy in Islamabad, Meghan Gregonis said that the US officials were closely coordinating with the Pakistani authorities to solve the issue.
The US citizen, identified as Joel Cox Eugene, had been carrying 15 bullets of 9mm calibre along with a magazine when Airport Security Force officials checked him. He was going to Islamabad by a PIA flight (PK 308).

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, Is Standing Up For The Chibok Girls!

Female Kidnapper Set Ablaze In Lagos

An angry mob set ablaze a suspected female kidnapper on Tuesday on Ekoro Road at Abule Egba area of Lagos after she was caught with three children.

The woman was said to have kidnapped the three children who were on their way to school in the area at about 7a.m this morning while pretending she was taking them to school but she ran out of luck as she was spotted by a bread seller who raised an alarm.

Crowd gather to watch the incident

According to an eyewitness who identified himself as Ikisa, she tried to escape but was caught by a mob. When she was questioned on the ownership of the children, she claimed they were hers but when they realized she was lying, they beat her thoroughly, hung a tyre on her neck, poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.

Other sources said the unidentified woman came with a jeep which she parked at a distance and the car was later taken to the Oke-Odo Police Station, while others said she wanted to take the children into a tricycle before she was caught.

Policemen from the Oke-Odo Police Station watched helplessly as she had burnt completely before they got to the scene.

Residents however expressed satisfaction over the jungle justice meted out to the woman, saying that if she had been taken to the Police Station,  she would have been set free by the police.

A policeman, who pleaded anonymity said that no arrest could be made as it could be ascertained who set the woman ablaze.

The police could also not confirm whether the woman came with a jeep or whether the jeep had been taken to the station or not as the Divisional Police Officer of Oke-Odo Police said he was at a meeting.

Jungle justice is becoming very rampant. Just yesterday, a woman was burnt to death in Ondo state while three suspected kidnappers were set ablaze in Ogun state about two weeks ago.

Kanu Nwankwo Joins Aguero, Suarez, Neymar And Others To Kick Racism-Pictures

For sometime now, pictures of  prominent personalities eating bananas flooded the internet after Barcelona ace Neymar posted a similar snap of himself in support of Dani Alves, accompanied by the hashtag ‘#WeAreAllMonkeys’.
However, Spanish paper AS claims that together with marketing agency Loducca, Neymar and Alves planned to eat the next banana thrown at them live in front of a TV audience, and use that moment to kick-start a social media campaign.
In a bid to support the laudable campaign, Papilo, as the former Olympic football gold medal winner is being called by his fans, also posted a picture of himself eating a banana on his Twitter handle few hours ago.
Prior to Kanu, prominent football stars like Aguero, Neymar, Suarez, Vincent Enyeama and many more have also gone on different social media to post pictures of themselves eating banana to kick racism out of the world.
