In a video posted on YouTube on January 5, Abubakar Shekau, alleged leader of Boko Haram threatens Cameroon and its president, Paul Biya.

The "leader" of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, threatened the Cameroonian President Paul Biya to treat his country as violently as his Islamist armed group attacks the Nigeria.

"Paul Biya, if you do not put an end to your evil plan you'll be entitled to the same fate as Nigeria (...) your soldiers can do nothing against us," said Abubakar Shekau in a video about 17 minutes posted on January 5, as fighting intensified in the extreme north of Cameroon between jihadists and the Cameroonian army.

After being accused of underestimating the threat, the Cameroonian authorities seems he took the lead in recent weeks. Men reinforcements (7 000 soldiers were mobilized) and armored vehicles were sent to the Far North, where a new joint military region (fourth) was born. Two operations, Alpha (special forces) and Emergence (for the regular forces) are conducted simultaneously and a new controversial anti-terrorism law in the political class has also been adopted by the Cameroonian parliament.
