The Nigerian military has finally released some of the Chibok parents who embarked on a journey to Abuja for the Bring Back Our Girls presidential march.
Speaking to Naij.com, the chairman of the Chibok parents, Tsambido Abana said the parents who were barred from leaving Borno state by men of the Nigerian military have been released.
“Yes, they have left Borno, they are already on their way to Abuja,” Abana said.
He however, said that due to network/ communication issues, he couldn’t readily say if the group of parents are currently being escorted by the military.
“I do not know but will only be sure if there is a military escort when they get here,” he said.
Over 120 of the parents of the missing Chibok girls on Tuesday, January 12, left Borno state for Abuja for the presidential march by the BBOG group scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 14.
But out of the nine buses that left the state, five were barred from leaving Chibok and Askira, both in Borno state.
The BBOG group in a statement on Tuesday demanded the military to make a public apology to the parents for the unfortunate episode and make a public commitment to transport the parents from Maiduguri to Abuja.
Efforts by Naij.com to reach the defence spokesperson, Abubakar Rabe on the military’s involvement and said public apology was futile.
Rabe did not pick calls put through his mobile number.
