Five months ago, in an interview with This Day newspapers, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, after she was accused of running away from the country, set the records straight.
She said:
” I did not run away from the country. I had said clearly to everybody a few months ago that I have been coming out regularly from early this year for treatments. In fact, everybody would remember that in March I had a major operation and I have been coming out for treatments periodically. It is a necessary treatment, so I have not run away at all. Having said that, the attacks have been so vicious and nasty.”
And when pushed to reveal if the sickness was cancer, she said:
“That is a private matter that should not concern the public.”
But a week after she was arrested in London, her lawyer Mr. Oscar Onwudiwe told Sahara Reporters that the former minister was battling cancer, though he didn’t reveal what form of cancer it is.
“The health crisis has unfortunately exacerbated in recent times,” he said in a statement.
But, how worse is the situation? Yesterday, Dele Momodu of Ovation Magazine, shared screenshots of his newspaper The Boss which features an interview with the former minister where she denied misappropriating funds. The photos are shocking.
